About
Build Bonnie's Dream is an organization helping raise funds to better the education of children in Cambodia, in memory of Bonnie Whitehead.
Bonnie was one of the few people in this world brave enough to put aside her own needs and wants to help others. She led by example, always working hard to benefit those around her.
Bonnie was studying a double degree of Law and International Relations at Bond University and was heavily involved in all aspects of campus life. She co-founded the Bond University Progressive and Leftist Society, as well as volunteering as co-convener and carer of the Bond Children’s Holiday Camp; an annual camp run by students for children with disabilities. Bonnie was also actively involved in the Bond University Hunger Eradication and Long-term Projects club, and was a sub-editor of the university Scope magazine.
On top of everything, Bonnie continued to excel in her studies at Bond, being placed on the Vice-Chancellor’s list for academic excellence numerous times. Bonnie’s intelligence and work ethic never ceased to amaze, she attended the 2012 Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference and won an award for best diplomat and Bond won best delegation.
Everyone who knew Bonnie cannot help but smile when they think of her, she had a quirky sense of humor, always managed to make you laugh. Bonnie had a contagious energy, and was so much fun to spend time with, even in a boring situation she could turn it around; there was never a dull moment with Bonnie. If ever someone needed help with their problems, Bonnie was there. She would never judge and genuinely cared, no matter what the issue was. The amount of love that everyone has for Bonnie is a true reflection of her love and compassion for everyone around her.
During her time in Cambodia volunteering at VCAO school, Bonnie illustrated the key to happiness is helping those in need. All the volunteers who met and worked with her have nothing but positive words to say. The children’s eyes would light up when Bonnie taught the class. Her enthusiasm shone through, and it showed in the children. She had genuine affection for all the children and always felt it was her responsibility to educate them.
Bonnie inspired everyone she met to not
only talk about helping others, but to make
plans and follow them through. She had an
amazing heart and endless plans to educate
the children to a better life.
It is clear that Bonnie’s family are so proud of
all that she has accomplished. We are all better
people for having such a brilliant, intelligent,
kind woman in our lives. All our best wishes
and love go out to Bonnie’s family.
